Whitpain is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors elected at-large by the voting residents. Most, if not all, of the executive and legislative powers allocated to Whitpain Township by the State are vested in the Board. As part of their responsibilities, the Supervisors approve or deny land development applications and appoint the members of the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board.
